DROITWICH History and Archaeology Society is holding a talk on the history and function of market towns.
The talk, which will include illustrations, is being given by Richard Churchley, and he will be exploring how the market in Droitwich which has recently been revived, holds an important place in the town’s history.
Markets were once a place where local people could buy everything they needed without leaving the town, as well as somewhere to sell all the goods they had produced, and the talk will illustrate how they developed over time.
Anyone is welcome to attend the talk which is taking place on Wednesday, September 3 at the John Corbett Room in Droitwich Community Hall on Heritage Way from 7.30pm.
The talk is £2 for members of the society and £4 for visitors. There will also be copies of the newly published book ‘Droitwich Through Time’ on sale during the evening.
