Three sisters from Droitwich are aiming to raise £1,500 for Ravenstone Nursing Home to buy a portable infusion pump- which helps to administer medication more comfortably.

The siblings, Emma Parkins,44, Deborah Storey, 50, and Sarah O’Hara, 48, were motivated to provide the pump in memory of their father, John Parkins, who passed away in June after suffering from neck cancer.

He was administered medication through the device whilst at the nursing home sparing him the discomfort of daily injections.

Emma said: “Once he was put on to the pump I could see an immediate change in him, he was more settled and his breathing became more regulated - I could tell he was more comfortable. If having the pump available means that another patient can have the comfort I witnessed my dad have, even if for a short amount of time, I know it will make so much of a difference.

Maureen Dearden, head of admin and finance at Ravenstone Nursing Home, said: “Every day we see the difference that medical devices and pumps can have on our patients. On behalf of all the staff at Ravenstone, I would like to say a huge thank you to Emma and her family for the effort they have put in for their fundraising.”

CME Medical T34 Ambulatory Syringe Pump is a lightweight and compact device designed to maximise safe and simple administration for pain relief without the discomfort of daily injections.

John Carrington, Managing Director at CME Medical, said: “Stories like Emma’s are so important to us at CME Medical; putting into context what we do every day. We are focused on meeting the needs of patients and customers by bringing real tangible benefits.

“We are very sorry to hear about the passing of Emma’s father, we hope his final days were made as comfortable as possible, which in turn gave the family the reassurance that their father was well cared for by the staff at the home. Emma’s fundraising for the Ravenstone is inspirational. We hope that more people get behind her and donate to help reach the fundraising target.”

The trio have already raised £1,120 for the cause and are planning further events to reach their target.

If they manage to exceed the price for one pump the team will aim to buy two for the nursing home instead.

Donations can be send via post to, Perfections Hair Studio, The Courtyard, Mitre House, 27 The Strand, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B61 8AB. Cheques should be made out to Ravenstone Nursing Home.
