A COUNTY council service is offering help to youngsters who have received their GCSE results.

Students who received their results on Thursday, (August 21), may be struggling to decide what to do next, or looking to gain qualifications or work experience.

Worcestershire County Council's 2 Counties Training offers young people the opportunities, experience and support needed to make a positive step towards a successful future.

The service offers training and work experience in a wide range of vocational qualifications for 16 to 18-year-olds.

These include hair and beauty, business administration, motor vehicle, construction, horticulture and many more. Several of the training providers also deliver traineeships, which are a first step to getting on to an apprenticeship programme.

The scheme offers a range of options to suit the skills and interests of young people across the county, including Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch.

Liz Eyre, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for children and families, said: "If a young person is not going on to higher education such as university or college; it can be difficult for them to know what to do after they finish their GCSEs, or how to gain the qualifications and experience needed to progress in to the career of their choice.

"Training and apprenticeships should be seriously considered as they can be the start to a fantastic career path.

"Here in Worcestershire, 2 Counties Training can provide a range of training, support and experience to help young people build a solid step towards their future."
