A YOUNG boy has gone that extra mile to support the Primrose Hospice's BIG Appeal.

The hospice is trying to raise £100,000 to secure the future of its vital local services.

Callum Gauntlett, aged 11, who will be starting at King Edwards Five Ways Grammar School this September, was set a physical challenge to raise funds for charity. Having heard of the BIG Appeal he decided this would be his chosen cause.

Callum cycled a massive 25 miles on a static bike outside ASDA, Bromsgrove, on Saturday, August 9 and raised over £240.

Helen Garfield, chief executive officer of Primrose Hospice, said: "It is great to see people like Callum offering to support us. 25 miles is a long way to cycle and the money raised will help us to get nearer to our target. We are aiming to raise £100,000 to ensure we can meet the ever increasing need for our services.

"Callum and his Mum Sally have been generous with their time and energy and the local people who sponsored Callum have been generous with their money. It is wonderful to know we have the support of our local community and we really appreciate what Callum has achieved. He is a very special young man."

To donate to the appeal, send a cheque, made payable to Primrose Hospice, including the donors names and address, to BIG Appeal, Primrose Hospice, St. Godwalds Road, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire B60 3BW or drop off cash at the hospice, or any of its six charity shops in the area.

Alternatively, text 'TEXT: PHBA01 £12/£26/£57' to 70070, visit primrosehospice.org/bigappeal or donate by card by calling 01527 889796.

Anyone wishing to organise an event for Primrose can contact the fundraising team on 01527 889796 to request a fundraising toolkit.
