THE village of Salwarpe will be holding its summer fete on Saturday, August 16 with a whole host of fun activities on offer for visitors.

The fete is taking place in and around a giant marquee on Copcut Lane with an exhibition of World War One memories, as well as various rides and activities.

There will be a grand raffle with a first prize of a £150 Halford voucher to buy a child’s bike and receive mechanical check-ups. There’s also a roll the dice competition with the first person to roll seven sixes in a row winning a Mercedes, and a second prize of a weekend’s hire of a Mercedes. The lowest scorer at the event will pick up a free turkey.

The local branch of the WI will be providing refreshments in the village hall with a variety of cakes and teas on sale, while entertainment will be coming from the West Mercia Police Brass Band, and dancing displays.

Visitors will also find book stalls, toy stalls, and bric-a-brac, as well as a nearly new stall, clothes stall, and cake stalls.

Money raised from the fete will go towards the maintenance and repair of churches in Salwarpe and Martin Hussingtree, and last year’s fete raised more than £13,000.
