LIDO Park and Vines Park in Droitwich are among five parks in the Wychavon district to receive prestigious Green Flag awards.

Both parks have received the award, which recognises the best parks and green spaces across the country, as a result of their excellent facilities and high level of maintenance.

Lynn Stevens, parks officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “There is so much to enjoy in our parks – we have children’s play areas and water play facilities, cycle paths, skate parks, picnic benches, plenty of seating, and of course lots and lots of green open space.

“We’re thrilled to once again have the Green Flags flying in all of our main parks as they are a signal of the quality and cleanliness of these wonderful green and open places that everyone is welcome to enjoy.”

Councillor Ron Davis, portfolio holder for contracted services, environment and health, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to receive these Green Flag awards in so many of our parks. We work hard, with our contractor, to ensure we offer not only great facilities, but that these are kept clean, tidy and give everyone something to be proud of. My congratulations go to the parks team for their continued devotion to maintaining the parks very high standards for the benefit of all who use them.”

The parks are among 1,476 across the UK to receive the award., through the scheme run by Keep Britain Tidy.
