A 65-YEAR-OLD man from Droitwich has been banned from driving for three years after admitting getting behind the wheel while over the drink-drive limit.
Roger Jones appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Friday, August 1, where he pleaded guilty to driving on Chawson Lane, Droitwich, with 61 mcg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath – above the legal limit of 35 mcg – on July 12.
Chris Hilton, defending, told the court Jones had driven to a pub to meet a friend for lunch.
He had originally planned to take a taxi, but decided to drive when he realised he had no cash.
He was pulled over and breathalysed by police.
The court banned Jones from driving for three years as he had previously been convicted for drink-dri ving in 2007.
He was also ordered to pay a £175 fine as well as £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
