THE Probus ’89 Club of Droitwich Spa is celebrating its 25th anniversary this September with an evening meal and Black Country entertainment from musical duo Dandy.

The club was originally formed in 1989 by Frank Newberry, who had attempted to join one of the town’s two existing Probus Clubs and found them both already full.

Mr Newberry passed away last year, and the club is also using the anniversary as a tribute to him.

The Probus ’89 club members are all retired, and meet on Wednesday mornings three times a week, with visits from a variety of guest speakers and lunch days when partners are invited to join the members.

The Probus ’89 Club is one of four Probus Clubs now operating in Droitwich, all of which meet at Rotary House in Corbett Avenue on different days of the week.
