A WOMAN from Droitwich is joining her friends to take part in an endurance challenge for St Richard’s Hospice.

Angela Bill from Droitwich, is joining seven friends from Worcester, ranging from their 20s to their 60s, to take on the 45 mile Paddle, Plod and Pedal event on Saturday, July 19.

The challenge will see the team paddle from Pershore to Tewkesbury, before walking to Kemspey, and then pedalling babck to Pershore.

Teammate Mick Roberts, said: “We are all aware of the great work St Richard’s does. I have been raising funds for St Richard’s for a number of years because of the great support they gave to my mother, Wendy Roberts, in her final days. A few years ago my wife, Dione, and I did the Worcestershire Way walk and raised over £2,000 and vowed that we would do further things in the coming years. Dione is working as our support driver and chief motivator for the Paddle, Plod and Pedal event.

“Our approach to the event is mixed – the elder statesmen are just determined to finish and enjoy the day. The youngsters are discussing being rather more competitive and attempting to be first team home. We will see how these team tensions play out.”
