A DROITWICH ice cream producer has scooped up three awards at the 2014 Three Counties Show in Malvern.
Churchfields Farmhouse Ice Cream was presented with winner certificates for its vanilla ice cream, and its strawberry ice cream in the Cheese and Dairy Produce competition at the show, as well as managing to snag a second place for its Honeycomb Heaven flavour.
Gillian Kerton from Churchfields Farm, said: “We take the production of our dairy ice cream very seriously and are members of the Red Tractor Farm Assurance Scheme.
“Many people don’t know that ‘dairy’ ice cream need only have a minimum of 2.5 per cent of milk protein and a minimum five per cent of dairy fat. Our ice cream has 64 per cent milk content and 15 per cent double cream. We don’t use preservatives or artificial colours and all our ingredients are fully traceable. It’s wonderful that we are winning awards which recognise the importance we place on creating a genuinely premium product.”
The judging panel at the show also commented on the smooth and creamy nature of the ice creams, as well as the natural flavours and tempting appearance.
Churchfields has been farming locally for more than 100 years and uses milk from its pedigree herd of Holstein Friesians to make its ice cream.
