CHILDREN, staff and parents at Ombersley Endowed First School and Nursery, have managed to raised £450 through a school-wide recycling scheme.

People generously donated 900 kilos of unwanted clothes, textiles and shoes to the school through the Bags 2 School scheme which helps support the second-hand clothes trade in developing countries in eastern Europe, and parts of Africa and Asia, while also raising money for the school.

The collections were organised by the Friends of Ombersley School, as part of its annual fundraising effort, which will go toward additional equipment and activites for the children.

Headteacher Caroline Moore, said: “We have a very active eco council at the school, so we are always looking for new ideas to help improve the sustainability of the environment in which we live and work. Bags 2 School is an excellent way of raising awareness amongst the children of the benefits of recycling and reuse as well as diverting unwanted items from landfill.”
