A PRIVATE garden in Droitwich is opening to the public next weekend as part of the National Gardens Scheme.

The garden at Hiraeth on Showell Road in the town, has a traditional cottage garden feel to it, with herbaceous planting, along with hostas, ferns, and a 300 year-old olive tree.

There are also a number of arches, a pool, waterfall, 200-year-old stile, oak sculptures, and several ornamental metal animals, and there will be plants and refreshments on sale.

The garden is open from 1-5.30pm on Sunday, June 8, with admission £3 for visitors.

Other gardens open to the public by appointment as part of the scheme, include 24 Alexander Avenue in Droitwich, The Cottage in Broughton Green near Hanbury, which features formal hedges, topiary and mature fruit trees, and Hanbury Hall and Gardens.

For more information on admission fees, which all go toward the NGS, and information on how to book an appointment, visit ngs.org.uk.
