Last chance to apply for green awards

11:14am Friday 23rd May 2014

RESIDENTS, households, community groups, schools and businesses in Droitwich, which have launched their own green initiatives are being urged to put their names forward for Wychavon’s Intelligently Green Awards.

The awards are aiming to recognise, celebrate, and promote green projects and activities in the district.

They look at four categories: energy, construction, transport, and food, tourism and green space.

Activities and projects must have taken place in the Wychavon district between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2014 to be eligible, and anyone wanting to enter or nominate an environmentally positive project, needs to submit their entry by 5pm on Friday, May 30.

A spokesman for the council said: “We’ve already received some great nominations for the Intelligently Green Awards and I’m excited about getting involved in judging them all. With the deadline fast approaching we’re keen to get as many nominations in as possible. This is a great opportunity for people to shout about what they’re doing for the environment.”

The awards are part of the council’s Intelligently Green Plan, which aims to deliver projects which have a positive impact on the environment and local communities.
