A TEENAGER from Droitwich was invited to St James’ Palace in London recently to receive her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
Jennifer Small, a former pupil at Droitwich Spa High School, received her official certificate from comedian Shappi Khorsandi in the presence of trustee and Gold Award holder HRH the Earl of Wessex.
Jennifer worked incredibly hard on the Duke of Edinburgh award programme over two years, completing the five sections, which included volunteering at the Swan Theatre in Worcester, studying photography and dance, participating in a summer skills course with Youth Music Theatre, and taking part in an expedition to Snowdonia.
She said: “Being a part of DofE has certainly been the most challenging thing I have ever done, but is also one of the most rewarding. This experience is one that I would definitely recommend for anyone who seeks adventure and a great challenge.”
