RAGAMUFFINS Pre-School in Droitwich has received 30 free saplings from the Woodland Trust as part of an initiative to encourage community groups and organisation to plant more trees.

The free tree pack was one of 21 sent out to organisations in Worcestershire, some of which contained as many as 420 trees, and fit into different themes, such as wild harvest, wildlife, wetland, working wood and wild wood, to provide year round colour.

Anyone wishing to apply for a pack of trees, can do so up until September 4, with the trees being delivered to successful applicants by November.

John Tucker, the Trust’s director of woodland creation, said: "We’re very excited to have given away so many trees this season. Planting these free trees will not only help people make their schools and neighbourhoods greener and healthier, it’s also a great chance for people to do something meaningful for their local community, and getting children involved is the perfect way to teach them about their environment. Luckily we have been able to make even more tree packs available this autumn, so other groups don’t miss this wonderful opportunity.”
