AN exhibition of photographs showing arts workshops for people with dementia will be stopping off at Droitwich Library until the end of the month, as part of a tour of the district.

The exhibition ‘Growing old gracefully’ shows photographs taken by the Shutter Crew over the course of 2013, during various arts workshops organised for people with dementia.

The images show residents from several local care homes across the district, taking part in dance, craft, music and poetry activities at the Number 8 Community Arts Centre in Pershore.

The arts workshops were organised as a way of encouraging people to socialise and give them a chance to learn a new art form as well as decreasing isolation and increasing wellbeing.

Jenny Davis, arts development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “We are thrilled to give the public the opportunity to view this beautiful collection of photographs. They truly show the enjoyment and range of heartfelt emotions experienced by those taking part in the sessions.”

The tour, which has been organised by Wychavon District Council, will be at Droitwich Library until April 30, before moving on to Evesham Arts Centre.
