THE Dodderhill Parish Survey Project is holding a meeting on Saturday, March 29 for people to get involved in an exciting local history project investigating Droitwich’s past, and find out more about Bromsgrove’s nailers.

The meeting is taking place at Wychbold Village Hall in Wycbold, where people will be able to talk to the group which published the book ‘Dodderhill through the ages’ three years ago.

The group has started work on a three year Heritage Lottery research project called ‘Historic Droitwich: Its Streets and People’, and is on the lookout for other keen historians willing to join in with the research.

There will be training available and expert advice on hand for anyone interested, with opportunities for documentary research, including the transcription of historic documents, and group will also be surveying and recording historic buildings for the project.

Also included in the meeting, which is taking place from 10am to noon, will be a talk from Pat Tansell entitled ‘the Bromsgrove Nailers’ in which Ms Tansell will be talking about her research and the vast collection of archive photographs and documents she’s amassed about the people who once worked in the town’s nailing industry, and they way they lived.

Entry to the meeting is £1 per person, and anyone is welcome to attend.
