THE Upton Warren conservation area, which lies between Droitwich and Bromsgrove off the A38, is to receive its first review in nearly 40 years.

The review will seek public comment on the draft Character appraisal and Management Plan for the conservation area, which covers the historic core of Upton Warren, and was first designated in 1975, as well as considering new boundaries for the area.

The designation of conservation area affects planning guidelines, helping control new developments and influence designs which could affect historic places, and the review is suggesting that some additional land that is considered to contribute to the historic character of the village, should be added to the conservation area, while some areas where ownership and land use patterns have changed over the years, should be removed.

The review is being put out to public consultation, from Monday, March 31 to Monday, May 12, and residents are being invited to attend a public meeting at the Upton Warren Outdoor Centre on Tuesday, April 1 from 6.30pm, where Wychavon District Council’s heritage manager will present the review and answer questions on the proposed changes to the area.

Information and hard copies of the review will be available from DFroitwich Library and Upton Warren parish council from March 31, or at wychavon.gov.uk/conservationareas from the same date. Alternatively for more details call Jim Burgin, heritage manager at Wychavon District Council on 01386 565366.
