YOUNGSTERS from the Norbury Youth Theatre are taking part in the Worcestershire section of the All England Theatre Festival in Droitwich this weekend.

The festival will see eight companies from all over the Midlands staging nine 10-minute plays, with judges awarding points to each piece for acting, production, stage presentation and dramatic achievement.

The companies can also have points deducted for going over their 10-minute time limit.

The Norbury Youth Theatre are putting on two pieces, ‘It’s a Dog’s Life’ which tells the story of four dogs lying in cages in an animal shelter, and ‘Dream Jobs’ which takes a look at five girls waiting for a job interview.

Trophies are on offer for the plays scoring the most points, presented by actress Gill Jordan, who starred in the You Tube hit ‘Doreen’s Story’. The writer of ‘Doreen’s Story’ will also be coming to the festival to select an actor or actress to play a part in an upcoming film adaptation of the play.

The festival is taking place at the Norbury Theatre in Droitwich on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23 with tickets for all the performances at £6 each, available from the theatre box office on 01905 770154.
