VOLUNTARY and charitable groups in Droitwich are being urged to take advantage of Wychavon’s Community Grants Scheme before the application deadline.

The scheme is offering grants from a £50,000 fund for projects which benefit the community from communal buildings, and sports, to the arts and community learning.

Last year more than 100 application packs were sent out around the district, with 17 organisations receiving funding.

Tracy Grubb, community development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to offer community grants again. We had some fantastic projects that were successful last year like the Evesham Branch RAF Association which was awarded a grant towards the cost of a replacement memorial stone, and Holland House in Cropthorne, which was successful in receiving a grant towards their refurbishment and extension project. These projects demonstrate just what this money can help communities to achieve.”

All applicants must attend a briefing on the grants process, and there’s one more taking place at the Civic Centre in Pershore, on Wednesday March 19 from 6pm, before the application deadline at noon on Friday, March 28.

If anyone would like to apply for a grant but can’t attend the briefing, they should contact Tracy Grubb on 01386 565168 or Jem Teal on 01386 565235.
