PUPILS at Witton Middle School were experiencing some very strange events last week as part of a ‘Round the Twist’ themed writing week.

As part of the week, the children found large, unidentifiable eggs hatching in the school, footprints left on windowsills, and unattended luggage left lying around the building.

At the end of the week, the children got to spend an entire day writing their own stories and poems, taking the week’s strange events as inspiration.

Sarah Anderson, literacy co-ordinator at the school, said: “This has been a totally inspirational week for the children and has helped their writing skills immensely.”

The week was linked into World Book Day on Thursday, when the children were invited to come to school wearing hats that related to their favourite book.
