STAFF and pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School in Droitwich bid a fond farewell to their caretaker after 34 years of working at the school.

Geraldine Davies who started working at the school in 1980, received a treat from the children during a special assembly, in the form of a song written especially for her to the tune of ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, called ‘Don’t Stop the Cleaning’.

Katherine Leech, year three teacher, said: “Geraldine became involved with the school when her son Ian started in reception class, and her daughter Debbie went to the school.

“She’ll be greatly missed. Her bungalow was on site so even when she wasn’t doing her work here she was still around, and her husband John did a lot around the school as well.”

School staff arranged a farewell coffee morning for Mrs Davies, inviting former pupils and colleagues back to say their goodbyes, and presented her with cake and gifts.

Ms Leech added: “She’ll be staying in the area, she’ll still be in Droitwich, and her granddaughter comes to the school so hopefully we’ll still see her.”

Mrs Davies is planning to spend her retirement decorating her new home off the school campus, and spending time with her grandchildren.
