Droitwich events to mark Fairtrade Fortnight
4:00pm Monday 17th February 2014 in News
PEOPLE in Droitwich Spa are being urged to make a difference during Fairtrade Fortnight.
A series of events are being planned in the town to bring attention to the range of Fairtrade goods on offer, and to show the difference that buying them can make.
Fairtrade chocolate, gifts, toys, tea, coffee and food will be on sale at the special Fairtrade stall at the Farmers Market on Saturday, March 1.
There will also be a Fairtrade coffee morning at Droitwich Spa Methodist Church, Worcester Road, on Saturday, March 8 from 10am to noon. The event will include the sale of Fairtrade goods and a paper banana decorating competition for children.
This year Fairtrade Fortnight is highlighting the difference that Fairtrade can make to producers in developing countries. It aims to raise awareness of what consumers can do every week or every month to make a difference to the lives of farmers in the developing world.
Jean Auty, secretary of the Droitwich Fairtrade Group, said: “We hope the events we are organising will get people thinking about changes they can make in their lives, which can help combat unfair trade practices across the world. We would also love to hear from anyone interested in getting involved in Droitwich Fairtrade Group.”
