A POPULAR Droitwich Spa pub is planning to run a new summer festival for the town.

The Old Cock Inn, in Friar Street, will organise a day of music and culture after being approached by Wychavon District Council following the success of last year's street party to mark the pub's 300th birthday.

Owners Stuart Wilcox and Graham Leonard will now run a similar event called Friar Fest on Sunday, June 29 from noon.

A host of acts are already being lined up to perform on a stage nearby.

Friar Street will also be alive with cultural tastes and smells thanks to an array of food and drink stalls.

Wildmoor Oak Caribbean from Bromsgrove, Spice Fusion and Parks Cafe, both based in Droitwich, as well as The Old Cock Inn, will be amongst those selling their food delights. An outside bar will also be opened for the occasion.

The event will run until 8pm on the street. Live music is planned for inside the pub from 2pm to 11pm.

Anyone interested in applying for a stall should contact the pub on 01905 770754.
