Worcestershire parishioners visit Holy Land with Bishop of Worcester

PEOPLE from parishes across Worcestershire are accompanying the Bishop of Worcester on a tour of the Holy Land.

65 people from Worcestershire and Dudley parishes will join Dr Jon Inge, Bishop of Worcester in paying visits to some of the key sites of Jesus’ ministry including Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, and the Sea of Galilee.

The bishop said: “Together, we will walk in the places where Our Lord walked, from the place of his birth to the place of his death and resurrection. We will pray in the places in which Jesus ministered and lived. This is a great opportunity to explore our faith, enlarge our hope, and deepen our love for the Lord.

“It’s also a vivid reminder of the fact that the Christian faith is rooted in both geography and history. God chose the Holy Land as the place he became human, to suffer and to die for us and it was there that Jesus rose again almost exactly two thousand years ago.”

The group will be hearing stories from Jesus’ life as they see what life is like in the region for people living there now, and they will be visiting and worshipping with people from the Holy Land.
