A GROUP of youngsters from Acorns Children’s Hospice were whisked away on a magical journey to see a production of Cinderella.

The children saw the show at the Swan Theatre, Worcester, thanks to a generous donation from leading housing and care provider Sanctuary Group, which has homes in Redditch, Bromsgrove and Droitwich Spa.

Children from the Three Counties Acorns centre and their families recently attended the play, which was performed by local amateur pantomime society Kays Theatre Group.

Acorns Children’s Hospice, which is Sanctuary’s charity of the year, offers a network of care and support for life threatened and life limited children and their families across the Midlands.

One of the directors of the pantomime, Susan Sanderson, said: “We were delighted that the children from Acorns were able to attend our performance. Their faces were lit up throughout the show and they really seemed to enjoy the audience participation.”

Elinor Eustace, corporate and partnerships manager for Acorns, said: “We are extremely thankful to Sanctuary for providing us with the tickets for the pantomime. Any opportunity for the children to have a trip out of the hospice is gratefully received and they really did have a wonderful evening. They continued to laugh and smile long after leaving the theatre and we thank the cast of Kays Theatre Group for helping to make that happen.”

Sanctuary Care has been supporting Acorns since August 2013 and has so far raised over £3,000 for the charity through a variety of fundraising activities.
