A TOWN pub has raised funds thanks to a World Aids Day charity show.

The Old Cock Inn, Friar Street, Droitwich, hosted its annual variety event in December last year for more than 80 visitors.

This year's event, called The Mayhem of Musicals, saw landlords Stuart Wilcox and Graham Leonard performed alongside members from the Norbury Theatre and Droitwich Community Choir.

The evening covered musical numbers from a variety of musicals all with a slight comical and camp twist including a three-month-in-the-making version of Master of the House from Les Miserables, which consisted of the Droitwich Community Choir performing on the big screen singing Master of the House with landlords Stuart and Graham alongside acting out the scene from the show.

Members of the Norbury Theatre put on a great promotional performance of their forthcoming summer musical Me and My Girl, with leading characters Sam Jeffrey and Poppy Cooksey enticing the crowds with a couple of songs from their show.

Other acts included Sweet Transvestite from Rocky Horror Show, scenes from Mama Mia, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sister Act and Hairspray.

As well as all the hilarity and mayhem there was a heartfelt performance from Channel 4's Undatebles TV show star Kate Brackley who brought the house down with her portrayal of Maria from The Sound of Music.

The whole evening was held together by Stuart Wilcox, who created and produced the show, and this year's outrageous host and drag act Jon Southall.

Mr Wilcox sais: "The whole evening was fantastic and well supported with an audience of over 80 people who together helped to raise £453 for the World Aids Day charity, doubling what we made back in 2012."
