THE mayor and mayoress of Droitwich Spa paid a visit to the town's rugby club.
Droitwich Rugby Football Club welcomed Councillor Tom Noyes, Mayor of Droitwich Spa, and the mayoress, Councillor Glenise Noyes, to the Glyn Mitchel Memorial Ground on Saturday, November 23.
They were invited to a buffet lunch before presenting an award to Frank and Nicky Kelly in recognition of their support to help get the club's bar area refurbished.
David Warner, vice president of Droitwich Rugby Football Club said: “Community rugby clubs like Droitwich rely on the generosity of their members and volunteers to help maintain and improve our facilities. Frank and Nicky’s contribution has given a much needed facelift to the public areas of the clubhouse, for which we are very grateful.”
The mayor recognized the importance of the rugby club as part of the town’s fabric due to it s support of rugby at all age levels.
Following the presentation, the mayor and mayoress watched the local derby between Droitwich and Kidderminster Carolians. The result of the close-run match was a narrow win of 17-22 to Kidderminster.
