Nominations wanted as council searches for community champions
2:30pm Tuesday 5th November 2013 in News
PEOPLE are being reminded to get their nominations in as Wychavon District Council searches for the champions of its 2013 Community Recognition Awards.
The council’s community development team wants to hear about volunteers, community and club leaders, community projects, coaches, athletes and artists who have made such an outstanding contribution to their society, club or community that they warrant recognition.
The 2013 Wychavon Community Recognition Awards has grown from last year’s Sport Development Award in order to include a wider group of people who might be worthy of recognition.
Fern Canning, assistant community development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “We are looking for inspirational stories about people young and old who have tried to make their neighbourhood a better place. We still haven’t had any nominations for the young volunteer category, the arts category and the disabled category, so if you know someone who has made a real difference and you think they deserve to win, please fill out the application form today.”
Nomination forms and a list of award categories are available from the council’s website at wychavon.gov.uk/recognitionawards or from Fern Canning at firstname.lastname@example.org The deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday, November 27. The presentation of the awards will be on Wednesday, December 11, from 7pm, in the committee rooms of the Civic Centre in Pershore.
