Dedicated workers at town supermarket celebrate long service
9:30am Sunday 27th October 2013 in News
THIRTEEN staff members at the Morrisons store in Droitwich are celebrating 25 years’ service with the supermarket.
Together the 13 have clocked up more than 300 years working for the company, which has become a bit of a family affair.
Janet Preece, checkout supervisor, met her husband Trevor – the store’s former manager – while working at the store, going from the shopping aisle to the wedding aisle. Janet’s daughter has enjoyed time working at the store and her grandson is now an apprentice in the store’s bakery.
She said: “We all really enjoy working at the Droitwich store. Many of the customers we have served over the years have become close friends and we’re looking forward to meeting many more during the next few years.”
Jacqueline Grazier and Pauline Knight also work alongside family members at the store. Jacqueline, who is a cashier, travels to work each day with her sister Nadine Brooks, a canteen supervisor, while home and leisure assistant Pauline is joined at work each day by her niece.
The store’s oldest colleague, 76-year-old Barbara D’Auncey, is also celebrating the landmark achievement too.
The full 13 colleagues from Droitwich store celebrating 25 years’ service are Janet Preece, Pauline Knight, Sue Wakefield, Jacqueline Grazier, Kay Cale, Wendy Collins, Pamela Webley, Jeanette Byatt, Barbara D’Auncey, Geraldine Catling, Beryl Morris, Jeff Spragg and Ann McKeown.
To recognise their achievement, workers will be presented with a certificate and gift by Morrisons chief executive Dalton Philips and enjoy a celebratory 25-year event at the company’s head office in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
