New autism support group to launch
2:40pm Monday 21st October 2013 in News
THE National Autistic Society (NAS) is celebrating the launch of a new branch that will cover Droitwich Spa.
The branch will be opening its doors on Thursday, October 24 for a very special day featuring autism specialists Dr Wendy Lawson and Nick Glover, as well as presentations from people with autism and their families and a showcase of stalls from local organisations.
NAS Worcestershire & Herefordshire will offer essential support, advice and information to people with autism in the area, as well as their families. Autism is a lifelong disability that affects how a person communicates with others and makes sense of the world around them. More than one in 100 people in the UK have the condition.
Mandy Shrimpton, branch officer at NAS Worcestershire & Herefordshire, said: “NAS Worcestershire and Herefordshire will help local families affected by autism to access the support, advice and information they need and put them in contact with others in similar situations.
“Over the coming weeks and months we will be holding workshops and more special events and hope to see as many families as possible.”
The launch of the NAS Worcestershire & Herefordshire starts at 10am at St Peter’s Baptist Church in Worcester.
