Knitters support St Richard's Hospice
8:50am Wednesday 16th October 2013 in News
KNITTERS have turned their hands to creating a host of hats to keep heads warm in the county this winter.
Members of the Timberdine Machine Knitting Club have made 90 hats which they have donated to St Richard’s Hospice to sell in the charity’s shops in Worcestershire.
Committee member Jane Garrod, who lives in Droitwich Spa, has been a keen supporter of the hospice for many years. Her late husband, Peter, was a hospice volunteer driver for five years.
She said: “Peter and I have long supported and raised funds for St Richard’s as a great local charity. I cannot praise them enough for the care and support they gave us during Peter’s illness.”
The hats will be sold at £4.50 each at St Richard’s shops in Worcester Cross and Evesham High Street to raise funds towards St Richard’s care of patients and their families.
Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the Machine Knitting Club, which meets on the second Monday of each month, is invited to call Jane on 01905 774177.
St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families. For more information visit strichards.org.uk
