Droitwich's Rock Choir members to perform at Wembley
8:40am Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
SINGERS from Droitwich Spa are getting ready for a performance at Wembley stadium.
Town members of Rock Choir will join a 5,000-strong group to showcase their skills on Friday (October 18).
They'll entertain the huge crowds expected to attend the Heineken Cup battle between Saracens and Toulouse.
Rock Choir will perform just before kick off and at half time as part of an exciting night's entertainment, which includes pop stars The Vamps.
Rock Choir leader for the area Helen Just is putting her very own team through their paces, making sure the harmonies to songs such as 'Proud' by Heather Small and Bon Jovi's anthem 'Livin' On A Prayer' are spot on.
"We're thrilled to be taking part in this amazing mass performance," she said. "Being invited to exciting events like this is all part of being in Rock Choir. It's only a couple of months since we sang with thousands of fellow Rock Choir members from around the country at the 02 Arena in London and the Echo Arena Liverpool, and now we'll be together with some of them again at Wembley Stadium. We can’t wait."
It's been a really fun and busy year for Helen and her Rock Choir members. They've entertained at lots of local events, including the Droitwich Arts 4 All Festival, Worcester Festival, The Great British Summer Weekend, St Richard's Festival, Cancer Research’s Relay For Life and at Sixways Stadium for the Worcester Warriors vs London Wasps match.
Rock Choir is the UK's largest and most popular contemporary choir, with more than 16,000 members in over 250 local communities. It was established in 2005 by award-winning singer and musician Caroline Redman Lusher, who wanted to create a modern choir for people young and old who love to sing.
