School catering staff win top award
11:30am Monday 14th October 2013 in News
TWO members of Droitwich Spa High School’s support staff have won a prestigious national award.
Angie Beaumont, who is the school’s resources manager, and Karen Wilkes, the school chef, travelled to London on Saturday, October 5 .
The pair enjoyed a champagne reception and a gala awards dinner at the NASBM (National Association of School Business Management) National Awards for School Support Staff at Victoria Park Plaza. They were then celebrating after being named the winners of the team of the year award for 2013.
Amanda Allott, who until recently was Droitwich Spa High School’s business manager, nominated the winning pair because of the fantastic work they have done in reviving catering at the school.
Miss Allott said: “Angie and Karen inherited a catering function that was running at a loss and a team of staff that were not working to their full potential. They spent time understanding the business and the needs and preferences of students and staff.”
The awards evening, which has been running since 2005, is sponsored by the National Association of School Business Management, an organisation that exists to recognise and support the often invisible work done by support staff in schools.
Karen and Angie won a trophy, a certificate each and a cheque for £250 for the school.
