Popular village pre-school finds new home
11:30am Friday 27th September 2013 in News
A POPULAR village pre-school has found a new home.
3 Bears Pre-School, which was based at Ombersley First School, will now be operating from Oddingley Village Hall, Trench Lane.
The volunteer and parent-led school occupied a purpose built log cabin, known as the Tree House Early Years Centre, from January 2010 until July this year and had been operating in the community since 2002.
Whilst at the cabin, 3 Bears Pre-School was successful in attaining an outstanding Ofsted grade and attracted many children from a wide area. It had been so successful that it was planning to open for full term time hours from September.
However, a decision was made by the Tree House management committee in July not to renew the pre-school’s licence.
At the same time it was proposed that Ombersley First School open its own nursery at the site. The proposal included an offer by the school to take over 3 Bears, including children and employment of staff.
Chris Jordan, from 3 Bears Pre-School, said: “As we value our independence and parent-led ethos, being taken over by the school was not an option for us and we immediately set about finding new premises before the start of term in September.
“We were absolutely overwhelmed by the support from staff and parents who said they would move with us and cannot believe our luck in finding Oddingley Village Hall.
“The building is just the right size for us and the outdoor space is fantastic. We are looking forward to a long and happy relationship where we can continue to be an independent pre-school working with the community.”
3 Bears Pre-school is now open at new premises at Oddingley Village Hall from Monday to Friday and takes children from two years of age. For more details contact Chris Jordan on 01562 746339.
