Droitwich residents encouraged to put their best foot forward at Salt Fest run
12:00pm Sunday 8th September 2013 in News
DROITWICH residents are being encouraged to put their best foot forward at the town’s Salt Fest.
A fund-raising run; the Saltfest 9, is being held on the Sunday of the festival, September 15.
Organised by Droitwich Athletics Club the event is a multi-terrain nine-mile race along the canal tow paths, surrounded by stunning countryside views.
The race starts and finishes in Vines Park, beginning at 10.30am.
All runners who cross the finish line receive a memento to commemorate their run, plus a well-deserved plate of bangers and mash, which has been provided by the Gardeners Arms.
The event is not just for runners; walkers can also take part in the Cream Tea Saunter, which offers a choice of two routes.
The first walk starts at 1pm and travels along Hanbury Locks’ canal tow paths.
Miniature horses, from Glover’s Piece minifarm, will be brought on the walk.
The second walk begins at 1.30pm and is a four mile circular walk through Hadzor village.
Money raised from Saltfest 9 and the Cream Tea Saunter is being donated to the Murray’s Muscles charity, which works to improve the quality of life for people affected by muscle disease.
Spaces on the run and walk are limited so residents are encouraged to register in advance by downloading an entry form from droitwichac.co.uk.
If there are spaces left, participants will be able to register on the day.
