New art group will support people with mental health issues
12:30pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
A WEEKLY arts and craft group for people with mental health issues is being launched in Droitwich Spa.
Wychavon District Council is working with an art group in order to promote the benefits on a person’s health and wellbeing.
Garage Art Group is starting a new weekly art and crafts group in September in the old library, Ombersley Street East.
Garage Art Group uses the benefits of art to support adults recovering from mental health problems and clients with special needs.
The group will run on a Thursday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm, beginning on Thursday, September 5.
There is a charge of £6 per session.
The art classes are also open to the general public as the Garage Art Group believes that art benefits everyone.
Pam White, chairman of Garage Art Group, said: “We now cover Evesham and Malvern, and in September we will be coming to Droitwich. It is lovely to be in the position to expand to different areas and offer more people the benefits of art.”
