A DAZZLING display of begonias will be on show at Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.
Top growers from all over the country will be bringing thousands of prized begonias to compete for top position in the National Begonia Show which is being held at the award-winning garden centre for the second time.
The fabulous display will include single flowers up to nine inches across, along with exhibits of the multi-coloured foliage begonias. There will be 37 classes ranging from championship through to novice celebrating begonias of all varieties.
Show secretary Mike Avis said: “Despite a slow, cold start the begonias are now really being accelerated by the recent hot weather and difficult to keep back, but exhibitors nearly always seem to provide the top class plants on the day. We have lots of enthusiasts and growers exhibiting and it is an excellent way to learn more about growing these beautiful plants.”
Ed Webb, executive chairman of Webbs, added: “Our visitors enjoyed the first show last year and we are delighted to welcome back the National Begonia Show. It’s sure to be a great treat to see such beautiful examples of begonias on show.”
The event will be open on Saturday from 2pm to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free.
