THE wintry weather might be bringing the country to a standstill but the Norbury Theatre’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk is in full swing.
Like they say, the show must go on, and so it has with the Friar Street venue’s annual pantomime proving a hit with audiences.
Chock full of toe-tapping music, fun characters and typically groan-worthy one-liners, it has something to cheer the family on these dark winter nights.
Sam Jeffrey (Jack) and Chloe Earl (Jill) ably lead the cast but it is the chemistry between Paul Wood (Dame Trot) and Andy Brown (Timmy) that provide the majority of the laughs.
Tam Weir puts in a stellar shift as both one half of the comedy duo and the giant, while Jenny Tranter excels as the villainess.
Daisy the cow is also a hit, although she appeared to have a cold the night I was there!
A strong supporting cast and chorus perform hits from Grease and Les Mis, while there is even a nod to the Olympics in one of the dance routines.
Directed by Mike Matthews, the show runs until Saturday at 7.30pm with a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.
