PEOPLE who take part in a triathlon in Droitwich Spa this year will also be supporting St Richard’s Hospice.

Organisers of the town event, Worcester Tri Club, has agreed to support the hospice by donating 10 per cent of all registration fees to the cause and to encouraging participants to raise sponsorship.

The Droitwich Triathlon will be held at Droitwich Leisure Centre, Briar Mill, on July 28.

Worcester Tri Club will also be running similar events across the region throughout the year.

Peopleton Duathlon will take place on March 3, a children’s duathlon will be at the University of Worcester on May 26 and Top Barn Triathlon will be on June 30.

Les Bailey, president of Worcester Tri Club, said: “Having been involved with St Richard’s for over 20 years we are keen to support the hospice in this way. Our former Chairman, Mike Issitt, was cared for by St Richard’s so it is a local cause close to all of our hearts.”

All the triathlons can be done as relays with two or three people taking part.
