A NIGHT of big band music will be on offer when Droitwich’s Norbury Theatre hosts the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra.

The award-winning group has been described as one of the world’s top young big bands. It was unbeaten in the BBC National Big Band Competition for 20 years, including the final year of the competition in 2006. It has received international awards in the USA and Canada, and has worked with many of the finest jazz musicians in the world.

Talented members will now showcase their skills at the Friar Street venue on Sunday, December 9 The performance, which will feature Droitwich girl Sophie Feek, will take place from 7.30pm.

Musical director Dr John Ruddick said: “Sophie has a good strong voice, bright personality to match and should do well in the theatre business. We look forward to her performance with the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra in her home town.”
