PEOPLE in Droitwich Spa did their bit to raise funds for Children in Need.

Youngsters and adults alike held a number of events to support the annual appeal for disadvantaged children and young people across Britain.

Schools and community groups in the town joined the fun on Friday, November 16 ahead of the live television broadcast on BBC1 which saw a record £26.7 million collected on a night of celebrity performances and entertainment.

The amount, which was pledged by donors during the seven hour live show and is expected to rise in the coming weeks, exceeded last year's record sum of £26.3 million.

Youngsters at St Peter’s First School, St Peter’s Church Lane, dressed up as their heroes for the day to help support the cause.

Children at the town’s Salvation Army Pre-School, Union Lane, also donned fancy dress and held a cake sale to boost funds.

Pupils at Westlands First School took part in a county-wide synchronised massage activity on Friday, November 9.

In total, over 2,000 children at ten schools in Worcestershire took part in the ‘Massage for Pudsey’ event, including 236 children at Westlands.

Children took part in a specially devised weather story, drawing pictures using hand massage techniques to create different weather scenarios on the back of the child in front of them.
