A DARING Droitwich man has conquered Africa’s highest mountain to raise £4,500 for charity.
Mike Russell, from Dovecote Road, took on the gruelling challenge of climbing to the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro on October 11.
He scaled the Tanzanian mountain in aid of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, completing his feat of endurance with a final nine hour summit climb through 65mph winds and -20 degree temperatures.
Mr Russell, who works at Bromsgrove’s Waste Management Solutions, said: “I want to say a big thank you to all those who have offered support, as well as donating to my chosen charity of Make A Wish Foundation.
“You will be pleased to know that I finally reached the top after a gruelling nine hour summit climb. I am totally exhausted but elated.”
