Police questioning man about Spa burglaries
5:00pm Tuesday 23rd October 2012 in News
POLICE are questioning a man in relation to a spate of burglaries in Droitwich after he was arrested and charged for other offences.
Detectives have linked a series of 12 burglaries that have occurred in homes in the town since the beginning of September and last week released an e-fit of a man they wish to speak to about the offences.
The burglaries have mostly taken place in the residential areas between Ombersley Way and The Holloway.
Over the weekend, a man in his 30s from Worcestershire was arrested and charged with unrelated crimes. When he appeared at Worcester Magistrates' Court, consent was given for him to be released into the custody of West Mercia Police rather than the Prison Service.
This is so he can be questioned by officers about other offences, in this case the recent burglaries in Droitwich. He was transferred to Worcester Police Station at 7pm on Monday, October 22 and detectives have three days to question him.
Detective Inspector Richard Rees said: "We have been putting a lot of effort into tackling this recent series in Droitwich and have gathered together a lot of information and evidence. We want to put some of this to the man we have in custody.
"I would like to repeat my appeal for anyone who has seen anything suspicious in the area between Ombersley Way and The Holloway in recent weeks to contact us on the non-emergency police number 101."
