Employed for two years for James Gulliver Associates, before becoming a partner of Phoenix Securities, a leading adviser to the financial services sector, worked for 10 years in London and Hong Kong, during which time it was bought by Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, a US investment bank of which he became a Managing Director (one of many).Chairman Ottaker's PLC. Director of other businesses and charities, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Has been a Director of Ruffer LLP, a leading independent private client fund management company, which provides invaluable insight to issues confronting the financial services industry and all those who rely upon it for their future financial well-being, especially pensioners.

Personal Overview - Likely to be politically at the centre of the Conservative Party, he brings a range of business experience to the Ludlow constituency. He has had a twenty year business career before becoming actively involved in politics. He has worked in firms both big and small: having worked for investment banks in London, New York and Hong Kong and helped start a bookshop business, Ottakar's, from scratch. Has been Chairman of Ottakar's plc, which is quoted on the London Stock Exchange and employing over 2,000 people in shops all over the country. Has also been a Director of other businesses and charities, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation which is one of the leading providers of funding for research to find a cure for diabetes. Local activity has stemmed from his work as a councillor, and through support of the farming community, country sports, and other local charities. Has gained political experience campaigning in the area, becoming the first Conservative Councillor on South Shropshire District Council shortly after the 2001 General Election. His political interests include farming, housing development, EU and the Euro. He is also Chairman of a quoted Venture Capital Trust, Baronsmead 4 VCT plc, which reflects his enthusiasm for encouraging entrepreneurship in the small business sector.

Education - Queens College.
Previous Occupation - Joined MCP Systems consultants as a trainee (1985). Partner in MCP Consultants (1991-), an independent consultancy specialising in business intelligence systems. Partner in Wythall Estate, a family small-holding enterprise.

Personal Overview - An experienced political campaigner who entered the European Parliament in December 2011 after an additional UK seat had been created following the Lisbon Treaty. She had previously stood for election to the European Parliament in 2009 She has a successful business background and has managed large international projects for large companies such as IBM, 3M and GEC in the UK and Europe. Was notable as being the youngest County Councillor in England in 1977 when elected to Hereford and Worcester County Council. She has also been an Ambassador for the Federation of Small Business Real Life Entrepreneur Campaign and is a former FSB County Secretary.
