RESIDENTS are being invited to enjoy a night of classical music at St Stephen’s Church.

Redditch Choral Society (RCS) will be performing a June concert featuring three pieces, never performed by the group before.

The concert will be conducted by new musical director, Emily Tyrrell.

A spokesman said: "Since the death of Alma Bright Clarke (RCS founder and musical director) last June the society has been keen to maintain its high standard.

"By appointing Emily as musical director they have a young professional musician who is familiar to the society and who is prepared to try out new pieces.

"They are Joseph Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Handel’s Ode on St Cecilia’s Day – lovely choral works."

They added: "Rehearsals are going well and Emily has been able to use her contacts to book well known professional soloists, orchestra members and orchestra leader.

"Katie Leaver will sing soprano, Brett Elesmore sings tenor, Julia White contralto and Lawrence White bass. The orchestra will be led as usual by Peter Bridle."

The concert is on June 23 at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £12 (concessions £10 and accompanied children free) including interval refreshments.

They can be obtained from The Christian Word Bookshop at St Stephen’s Church or by calling 07794 362956.
