A TALENTED Alcester singer and her band are limbering up to do battle for a much sought-after festival slot.
Claire Clements and her rock and blues band Voodoo Stone will be playing their hearts out against three other bands to win a coveted place at Drunken Monkey Rock Festival in Upton-upon-Severn.
“We’re very excited about the prospect of getting a festival slot,” said Claire.
The quartet, who play their own music, will be playing a battle of the bands event on May 11 at Evesham’s The Valkyrie Bar.
The winners will get a slot at the festival, which has a line up including cover bands Wizards of Oz, Pearl Jamm, and Van Hailen and is on August 3 to 5.
It was launched in memory of Ian Downton, who died in 2009 after a car accident.
To date, more than £25,000 has been donated to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC).
“It would be a first for us to play Drunken Monkey, which is a great festival with a great cause," said Claire.
“The battle of the bands at The Valkyrie will be a fantastic night and we're very much looking forward to sharing the stage with three amazing bands.”
