A KIND donation has helped to support Astwood Bank Operatic Society’s performance of ‘Carousel’ at Redditch's Palace Theatre.

The second musical by the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II runs for dates on March 14 to March 17 - and has been supported by Astwood Bank Carnival team.

The team donated a share of £7,000 to the society to thank their members for helping out at the Astwood Bank Carnival Carols in the Park event before Christmas.

Money has helped to fund the storage of the society’s props and stage scenery.

Ashley Hewitt, Astwood Bank Carnival chair, said: “This is a great example of how through the community working together we can really help each other.

“Astwood bank Carnival is all about working with our local community, and as part of that we are always looking for groups such as the Operatic Society to work closely with us so that we all benefit.

“I wish them all the best for what I’m sure will be another excellent performance this week, and I’m glad that we were able to help put the show on in some small way.”

Steve Skinner, Acting Chair of Astwood Bank Operatic Society said: “Putting on our annual show at the Palace Theatre brings joy to all of our members as well as those that come along and support us.

“None of this would be possible without the support of local businesses and groups such as the Astwood Bank Carnival Committee.”

The show, at the Palace Theatre, runs from March 14 to 17 nightly at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday, March 17.

Tickets (priced £15/£16, with children half price) are available from 01527 63319, or tickets@astwoodbankoperatic.co.uk or direct from the Palace Theatre.
