INTERNATIONALLY renowned vocalist, guitarist and composer Allan Harris will be playing a special show in Birmingham – in Pizza Express.

Yes, that’s right.

The New York vocalist and guitarist, will be playing at Pizza Express - Birmingham on May 13

He said: “I am looking forward to performing in Birmingham for the first time because I hear they are real jazz lovers.”

He will be joined by his trio and will be performing songs from his newest album Nobody’s Gonna Love You Better (Black Bar Jukebox Redux).

Harris sums up his personal perspective on music in clear and straightforward terms.

“There is nothing that I have found that defines and gives credence to my place in this wild and mysterious universe than this thing called music,” he said.

He exemplifies that statement perfectly with his stunning new album Nobody’s Gonna Love You Better (Black Bar Jukebox Redux), which was chosen as one of the Top 10 jazz releases of 2016 by Clive Davis of the London Times and also featured in Gilles Peterson’s The British Impact on Jazz, (Atlantic Magazine) where he picked Harris as an "artist to watch…one of today’s most talented jazz performers".

Over the past 20 years, Allan Harris has steadily developed his reputation as one of the finest vocalists of his era.

Brooklyn-born and Harlem-based, he has forged his sterling credentials through his 10 previous albums, covering a broad range of contexts, all netted together within the rich territory of the jazz tradition.

In addition to his recordings, he has performed on a worldwide stage that has taken him to prestigious international festivals and halls in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, as well as the 2012 Olympics in London, and most recently, the EFG London Jazz Festival - Jazz Voice Concert at the Southbank Centre/Royal Festival Hall.
