THE bonfire night ash may have cooled, but political fireworks continue to shake up the global arena, and now an explosive new comedy "Remember, Remember", is set to grace the stage at the Swan Theatre in Worcester.

The show's director, Jenny Wicks said: "Remember, Remember potentially couldn’t have come at a better time – we could all do with a bit of comedy to lighten up these cold November evenings after all.

"Written by Holly Tonks and telling the story of the infamous gunpowder plotters, Jenny Wren Productions have given the story a very different take, full of new twists and colourful characterisation.

"It's a barrel of laughs and guaranteed to raise the roof. We take the story all the way from the initial plotting to the execution, but we haven't necessarily stuck to the truth all the way through. We've made up quite a lot and twisted some things.

"We had a lot of fun in rehearsals."

It’s 1605, and in the back room of a London pub, an unlikely group of men plot to overthrow King James I.

Jenny added: "We all remember, remember one of them; Guy Fawkes, the man with the big hat, dodgy moustache and explosive personality. But is he really the one whose effigy should be burnt every November 5? Caught in the act, was he the real revolutionary, or just the ringleader's puppet?"

The show comes to The Swan on Wednesday and Thursday, November 16 and 17, at 8pm, both nights.
